Product Specialist - electronics (H/F/X)

Bruxelles , Brussels-Capital Permanent
Published on 5 August 2026

Description

Our client is an international defense technology company specializing in advanced electro-optical, thermal imaging, and mission-critical systems for military and security applications. Operating globally through multiple engineering and production sites, the company develops cutting-edge technologies used by armed forces and government organizations worldwide. The Belgian site serves as an innovation, assembly, and technical support hub focused on the production, testing, and continuous improvement of advanced defense products. We are looking for a highly hands-on Product Specialist who can become the local technical reference for our products on the shopfloor. The role is focused on mastering the products technically and intervening directly whenever issues arise on products, subassemblies, machines, test equipment, or related software tools. This person will centralize technical questions locally, support rapid problem resolution in production, and liaise effectively with international engineering teams whenever escalation or expert support is required. This is a field-oriented technical role for someone who enjoys being close to production. The Product Specialist will spend most of their time on the shopfloor and in the lab, supporting assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and technical problem-solving activities. The position combines deep product knowledge with strong practical intervention skills and the ability to coach operators, support technicians, and act as the main technical interface between the local site and international engineering teams. Key Responsibilities: Become the go-to technical expert for products, subassemblies, and critical interfaces assembled locally. Perform hands-on troubleshooting, fault isolation, rework, and repair on non-conforming, returned, or failed units. Diagnose and help resolve technical issues affecting production and test equipment, including workstations, machines, benches, fixtures, and software-related tools. Intervene directly on the shopfloor during assembly and test issues to restore normal operations quickly. Execute and document technical investigations and failure analyses using a structured, evidence-based approach, in coordination with engineering, production, and quality teams. Define or improve practical repair, rework, and troubleshooting instructions, including acceptance criteria and traceability requirements. Coach and train operators and technicians on critical technical topics and troubleshooting methodologies. Act as the central local technical contact for escalations, before liaising with international engineering teams or external suppliers. Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring failure modes and proposing pragmatic corrective actions. Contribute to safe working practices and disciplined execution when handling sensitive products, equipment, and materials.

Profile sought

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Mechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in troubleshooting, repair, technical support, industrial assembly/testing, maintenance, or a similar shopfloor-oriented role.
  • Strong practical diagnostic skills: reading schematics, measurements, fault finding, connectors and cabling, disassembly/reassembly, soldering or rework.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex products and work across product, equipment, and software-related issues pragmatically.
  • Comfortable working close to production daily; autonomous, hands-on, reactive, solution-oriented.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and coach operators or technicians with patience and credibility.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, electronics, electro-optics, ruggedized systems, or precision assembly is a strong asset.
  • Fluent English mandatory; French and/or Dutch is a plus.
  • Structured mindset, sound judgment under pressure, strong ownership of technical problem resolution.
  • Due to the nature of products and customers, open only to European citizens.
